Fiesta Wedding in Selma, Ca
09/12/2014 was the first point of contact from the groom to be for Sergio and Alma’s wedding. A year and a half later on April 2nd, 2016 they tied the knot at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Selma, Ca. I had the great pleasure to work with my great friends Karina and Omar from Lomeli Images whom I strongly recommend for all and any of your photography needs. The reception took place immediately after at the MSGR Daniel Lopez Hall that features among many amenities a roll up door for the easiest equipment load in ever.
The venue was laced inside with a full-on Mexican Fiesta theme. Absolutely no detail was left out from the “Antojitos” room that had your choice of “agua fresca,” chips with salsa and a DIY “pico de gallo” area to select your favorite already diced fruit that can be marinated in lime and topped off with “tajin.” The décor made you feel as if you had stepped into a “rancho” with their flavorful linens and festive center pieces. For each seat there was a customized paper bag whose sweet contents were all the classic Mexican candy treats one could drool a mouth to (get it? My version of “shake a stick at” No?) Aaaaaannnnywhooo the best part? They had a churro stand later in the evening! That’s a first ever that I’ve seen. I didn’t get a chance to steal a treat but survey says they were YUM to the EEE.
Their agenda was quite eventful since they had Mariachi de la Tierra, Grupo Abigeo, and myself. I have done quite a few events where this is the case and planning is absolutely key in this for there to be no “dead air” and all to flow without fail. It’s important to consider the times of all entertainment to do certain things for example. The Mariachi was hired for 2 hours, so I know they will take one break which we can use to do something from the agenda and they usually play at the beginning of the reception so we will have some cushion to take of some wedding formalities before the Grupo Abigeo started at 7pm.
All went off incredibly well! The Mariachi whom I had worked before knew my style as far queuing them for certain things and the Grupo was great to work with as they definitely knew how to get the crowd grooving on the dancefloor with their melodic cumbias, huapangos, and corridos. They played newer songs and were also great on the microphone so anybody looking for a great Grupo Norteno make sure you contact them via their facebook.
It was the first time I had linked all my wireless uplights to bring the room to life for an event and it just made for a complete room re-vamp. I had a lot of positive feedback at the end of the night and it was truly a great wedding day celebration. Great weddings to start off the 2016 Wedding Season. Thank you Alma & Sergio!
